Adoption/Foster Care Support Group

How do you answer those difficult questions? You know the ones that you receive in the grocery store, at sporting events, anywhere you go as a family.
They may sound something like this:
Are they all yours?
Are they really siblings?
How much did they cost you?
Do you have a daycare?
Sometimes people ask these questions right in front of our kids and as our kids get older we need to have a plan on how you will respond as a family.
Come and join us this Sunday at Timberline Church in Room 211 at 5pm. :)

Childcare is available through registration at:

Orphan Sunday Nov. 7, 2010

Postcard--OS_2010_Front
Orphan Sunday is 6 weeks away. It is not to late to do something in your church or in your community. Check out Christian Alliance for Orphans website for ideas and resources: http://www.orphansunday.org/
Your Voice has the power to change the life of an orphan right here in the United States and around the world. Anytime we take a chance and share God's call to the church to care for orphans a seed is planted. You never know what that seed may grow to be, but God does and I have a feeling it will grow beautiful fruit!!
A few weeks ago a friend gave me a plaque that sits on my desk is says: Don't judge each day by the harvest you reap....but by the seeds you plant.
It is a great reminder for me to keep being a diligent seed planter. :)

UCount - Join in the fight against Trafficking

U COUNT new header
Orphans are at great risk for human trafficking. They are at risk because when they age out of the orphanage they have no where to work, no where to sleep, no one knows that they are missing. When a stranger approaches them with promises of a bright future with a job and more money than they could dream they jump at the change of what looks like a better life. They quickly find out that they are now trapped in an industry

You can make a difference.

This weekend Sept. 18 and 19th at Timberline Church, UCount http://www.ucountcampaign.org/ will be having a spotlight on their ministry. That means that they will be sharing with us what has happened in the last year and where they feel God is leading them in the next year and beyond. Several guests will be hosting tables in the mall area so that we can meet them face to face and find out how we can get involved.

The worst thing we can do is nothing. God is calling us to do something!!

Meet Sasha

This past summer we were able to host The Russian Orphan Choir that was brought to CO through Nightlight Christian Adoptions. We were so blessed to be able to be a part of these children's lives for the few days they were here. Those few days have left us praying for these kids. Praying that they come to know Jesus as their Savior, praying that they feel loved and protected, praying that they know in their hearts how deeply they affected all of us and how much we care for them. Sasha touched mine and Jeff's heart while she was here.
Sasha was hosted by the Cherry family here in Northern Colorado. I asked them if they would share a little bit about Sasha with us:

Sasha.jpg

Sasha is an outgoing teenage girl with a heart for people. She has a very good sense of humor and likes to have fun. When she lived with us for a week, she would always make sure she was pleasing us. She would also make sure everyone was taken care of. At one point I was sharing with Sasha about the work we were doing at an orphanage in Haiti. I showed her some videos and some pictures and she began to cry. When I asked her what was wrong, she said that she was very happy that we were helping them and wished she could help them too. :) Sasha was a typical teenage girl with the good and bad but certainly deserves a forever family!
Please pray for Sasha's future.
Jeremiah 29:11 states this amazing promise:
For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.

All of the children in orphanages in Russia need our prayers, especially those who are close to aging out of the orphanage system. If you would like information about how you can help these children – or information about adoption from Russia, contact Nightlight Christian Adoptions at: 970-663-6799. :)

Jeffery Waits for a Family

This young man needs a family to come home to at the end of the school day. He needs a family to share his joys and his challenges. Could that be you? Please pray for Jeffery and his forever family. :)

Jeffery is in the 7th grade. He likes: to play the trumpet, gymnastics and to read. His birthday is May of 1998. His ID number with the Adoption Exchange is 8293. If you would like to know more about Jeffery please contact the Adoption Exchange at 303-755-4756.
Name: Jeffery F
Profile: "How does it work?" Jeffery's curiosity will make him investigate and get the answer. This very active young man loves to perform gymnastic maneuvers. He is gifted in music and can play a few songs on the piano as well as the trumpet. Cub Scouts is great, particularly camping, fishing, swimming and setting up the tent! All creatures count with Jeffery, especially dogs and his gerbil "Ferrari". In seventh grade, Jeffery is a good reader and loves to draw. He does well socially, getting along nicely with older and younger children. This incredible guy will make amazing eye contact when you engage him in conversation. Jeffery's caseworker will consider all family types for him. Financial assistance may be available for adoption-related services. For Colorado children, both homestudied and non-homestudied Colorado families are encouraged to inquire; only homestudied families from other states should do so.
